Privacy Policy

Privacy is an important aspect of our business. We take it very seriously. This privacy policy covers both our website and the use of the Sophatar service. Please read this policy to understand how we collect, use, protect and otherwise handle your personal information.

What information do we collect?

When registering on our website, become a business subscriber on our website, or become a consumer user of our service by downloading and installing our mobile app, you may be asked for your name, email address, mailing address, phone number or other details. This information is meant to be able to inform and contact you about our service offering.
As a consumer user of our mobile app, you are provided the option to sign up with your existing Facebook account to provide a single-click sign-up and automatic login flow. As part of this, we may receive from Facebook certain information that is part of your public Facebook profile such as name, gender, age range and zip code. We do not collect any other information during the sign-up / login process from this or any other third parties.
As a user of our mobile app, you are given the option to tap on certain ‘information icons’ to create an interest profile. To make our service effective, you are asked during the app installation process to provide us ‘always’ access to location info. We merely use this to monitor whether you are at a Sophatar-enabled location locally on your phone. Your phone only informs your location to us when your phone detects you are at a Sophatar-enabled location. We do not collect, or track any of your location info when you’re not at a Sophatar-enabled location.
When at a Sophatar-enabled location we share your first name, gender and age range (but not your last name, email address or phone number), the screen you are in proximity of, certain engagement intensity data (time spent at this location on your current visit, total time over all visits, the number of requested campaigns during this visit and prior visits etc.), the interest profile you have created for the categories the business subscriber has activated at this location (but not any interest profile information you entered at any Sophatar-location not owned by the same business), and if applicable, the on-demand content you are currently requesting from your phone. We share this as part of our real-time analytics service to our business subscriber so that he/she may effectively offer you further services while at this or any other business location he/she manages. We also provide aggregate analytics to the business subscriber for the location(s) he/she manages. However this information is totaled across all users and does not contain any personally identifiable information.
